It was interesting how it let me do this too. I can even run my 32 Lives-wrapped LiquidMix AU plug and use LiquidMix in PT. It acts as a shell and lets you pretty much run any format plug-in (effect or VI) in Pro Tools: AU, VST, VST3. I'm thinking I might be able to drop that in and be good to go.Īs a workaround and a good bit of information to anyone here who needs to use PT on occasion, I found that I can use the AAX version of a plug-in called PatchWork by Blue Cat Audio to run my version 9 AU Waves plugs in Pro Tools. and see if you have a file called WaveShell-AU 9.91.aaxplugin in that directory and email it to me at adminATmotunationDOTcom Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins I'm not sure the one you have will run on Mojave either? What might be easier is to see if you have this directory on your Mac. The legacy offline Version 9 installer that Waves allowed me to download that contains all the plugs barked at me and refused to run under Mojave. I don't use AAX but I assume it was installed at some point. (Note this installed V 9.92 for AU and VST. I don't know if it will have what you want but I'll upload it if you want to have a look. I have a copy of a V9 installer that I used to restore my Waves 9 stuff when I installed V10 plugins. I just had no reason to believe that the Waves installer would delete an archive of that file with a ".zip" extension as well as the actually WaveShell file itself. I've of course put a back up copy of the version 9 WaveShell file in safe and convenient location. Here's the bottom line: running the current Waves installer to update or install a new Waves plug in deletes a specific file that renders V9 Waves plugs unusable. untouched? Because I don't understand it. I'm not one to necessarily ascribe nefarious intentions to people or companies, but explain how ANY installation of a new Waves plug "cleans" the Components folder in such a way that it only DELETES ONE FILE named "WaveShell-AU 9.91.component" and leaves. Like so many users I already have a "Disabled" folder. I know it's a PITA, but this would work, no? In which case, no need for TM - just a surgical replacement. Any time they're deleted for whatever reason, just copy them back to where they belong. Therefore, I'd create "Components - Disabled" and "VST - Disabled" folders and copy the shells to them. I'd say it's a better bet that the installer just cleans the folder before a fresh install. James, I wouldn't assume that those file deletions were intentional and therefore targeted specifically. Still the fact that Waves WROTE THE INSTALLER SO THAT IT INTENTIONALLY DELETES V9 WAVESHELL WITHOUT WARNING IS CRAP!!!! I DO have a workaround and that is Black Cat Audio PatchWork lets you run ANY format plug in in ProTools, so I can actually instantiate the PatchWork AAX plug, then from its interface, load the V9 Waveshell AU, which then opens another menu that lets me choose the particular V9 plug in I wish to use and I'm golden. I did navigate into the offline installer hierarchy and retrieve the file manually, but it was only 2MB in size and didn't appear to work. I didn't have PT till recently so it was never installed from what I can tell, and the Waves Legacy installer won't install on Mojave. if anybody has the AAX V9 Waveshell on their system that they could get to me, I'd greatly appreciate it. just fine I might add! So I will have to rename this archive file I suppose in the hopes that next time I run a Waves installer this won't happen.ĪLSO. thankfully I went back with Time Machine and and retrieved the V9 Waveshall AU and placed it back in the Components folder and my V9 plugs once again work. The latter being an archive that I left in the Components folder for this eventuality. but this is total bullcrap!!! What right, Waves, do you have to delete files off MY computer and render WORKING plugs non-operational? What's more is not only did it delete: Launched a project and got an error that on of my Manny Maroquin V9 plugs was "missing." Well of course, it's because when you run a new Waves plug install, their installer DELETES THE VERSION 9 WAVESHELL AU. I purchased a new Waves plug on sale and installed it just now.
